Chair of the AGC Environmental Forum Wins Annual AGC Service Award

At the AGC Annual Convention last month, AGC presented its National Committee Chair of the Year Award to Connie Determan of Kiewit Corporation (Omaha, Neb.) for her outstanding leadership of AGC’s Environmental Forum.Ìý A member of theÌýÌýsince 2009, Connie Determan accepted the chairperson position in April 2012.Ìý In this role, she works to maximize the accomplishments of AGC’s Environmental Forum and advance AGC’s educational and advocacy efforts.

ÌýManaging compliance, training and education and bringing environmental resources to jobsites are all central to what Ms. Determan does with Kiewit Corporation, and she’s brought a wealth of that experience and knowledge to AGC’s Environmental Forum.ÌýUnder Connie’s leadership, the Steering Committee has played a very active role inÌýÌýÌý— planned and developed by contractors for contractors.ÌýÌýAttendees at the 2013 conference — coming up June 13-14, 2013, in Arlington, Va. — will gain access to up-to-date information and resources on compliance and trends that affect the business of construction across the nation.

Connie Determan has been a guiding force behind many of AGC’s recent environmental victories and compliance assistance initiatives over the last year.Ìý She has lead the Forum’s Steering Committee in numerous conference calls and other meetings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to bring about success in —
  • Shaping the federal 2012 Construction General Permit for Stormwater (and),
  • DevelopingÌýfor stormwater inspections and corrective actions that will help contractors meet the documentation requirements in all permits nationwide, and
  • Educating contractors on environmental requirements such as federalÌýÌýand the retrofit requirements for stationaryÌýÌý(RICE).Ìý Reminder: the compliance deadline for RICE retrofits is May 3, 2013.
